Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA)
In order to support and care for people managers need to be confident their whole team understand how to recognise and respond to abuse, suspected abuse and neglect. It is particularly important that Health and Social Care workers know how to minimise situations that could lead to abuse, how to recognise the signs of abuse, and are clear what steps to take if they suspect a person is being abused. |
Communication Skills
Communication is the foundation of what we do in every day life. What we say, how we say it and what we do communicates a multitude of messages. These messages are given and received both consciously and subconsciously. It is only possible to provide the best standard of care if carers can communicate effectively.egies in place to manage barriers to communication effectively. |
Dementia and Alzheimer's Awareness
Dementia affects around three-quarters of a million people in the UK. In order to ensure the highest standard of care and support is delivered to those with dementia it is essential that Health and Social Care workers have a good understanding of the condition and know how to adapt their skills and adopt strategies to meet individuals needs with dementia. |
Diabetes Awareness
There are an estimated 2.35m people with diabetes in England. Diabetes may run in families, but many people can't necessarily avoid the condition. This course provides a general understanding of diabetes and how to recognise signs and symptoms associated with diabetes. |

Infection control is an essential component of care. High profile reporting has made this a topical issue in recent times and people and their families expect only the highest standards in place. This course teaches how the risk of infection can be minimised effectively. |
Management of Continence
Incontinence can be upsetting. This course promotes good practice and provides the Health and Social Care worker with skills and knowledge to support the peeple they care for. |
Moving and Handling
This course will cover the requirements to train your staff. The Trainer will also show you how to use specific types of moving and handling equipment. The course also links to aspects of the Diploma and is suitable for induction training of new Health and Social Care staff as well as refresher training. |
Medication Awareness
Services have a duty of care towards the people they care for and support to ensure the right person receives the right medicine at the right time. It is vital that all employees involved in this process are fully trained and up to date with current legislation and guidelines. The course also links to aspects of the Diploma and is suitable for induction training of new Health and Social Care staff as well as refresher training. |

Understanding Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson disease is a brain disorder. It occurs when certain nerve cells (neurons) in a part of the brain called the substantia nigra die or become impaired. Normally, these cells produce a vital chemical known as dopamine. Dopamine allows smooth, coordinated function of the body's muscles and movement. When approximately 80% of the dopamine-producing cells are damaged, the symptoms of Parkinson disease appear. This course provides a general understanding of Parkinson’s Disease and how the Health and Social Care worker can support people with parkinsons disease . |
Understanding Strokes
Stroke affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. The brain is an extremely complex organ that controls various body functions. If a stroke occurs and blood flow can't reach the region that controls a particular body function that part of the body won't work as it should. This course provides a general understanding of what a stroke is and how the Health and Social Care worker can support people following a stroke. |
